Learn What Operating System You are Using and Its Version

I want to download new software but it is asking me what operating system I am using.

Windows: Most of you are using Windows from Microsoft unless you have a Mac computer from Apple. Windows users can identify their Operating System and the Version of their Operating System by following these instructions:

  1. Left Click on the 'Start' button on the bottom left side of your screen.
  2. Select 'Run'.
  3. Type in 'winver', without the single quotes and click OK.
  4. A new screen will pop up with the name and version of your Operating System.

Mac: Mac users can identify their Operating System and its Version by Left Clicking on the Apple button and selecting 'About'.

That ends this lesson on finding the version of your operating system. You will be asked to provide this information when you download certain software programs from the internet. There are different type of operating systems and software programs must be adjusted to correctly work with the approrpriate opperating system.
